Call for evidence: investigation report on aromatic brominated flame retardants

We are looking for information on alternatives to aromatic brominated flame retardants.

This information will be used for the investigation report that the European Commission has asked us to prepare.

Deadlines in evaluation decisions

We have published a new web page with information on the standard deadlines used in our decisions for substance and dossier evaluation.

You can find, for example, the rationale for the standard deadlines and learn about the timelines when the addressees of the decisions need to update their registration dossiers with the requested information.

Assessment of regulatory needs reports published

Reports for the following substance groups are now available on our website:

• Aliphatic esters from <C10 alcohols
• Esters from branched carboxylic acid and Pentaerythritol 
• Alkoxysilanes and alkoxy aliphatic non-vinylic silanes

RAC and SEAC meet in June

The agendas of the next meetings of our Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC) and Committee for Socio-Economic Analysis (SEAC) are now available online. RAC will meet from 3 to 6 June and SEAC from 4 to 7 June 2024.
 
The plenary meetings will address the following topics concerning the universal PFAS restriction proposal: 

• Metal plating and manufacture of metal products;
• Additional discussion on hazards (only by RAC); and
• General approach (only by SEAC). 

Additionally, the committees will discuss pending issues from the previous plenaries on consumer mixtures, cosmetics and ski wax.

Occasional stakeholders may express their interest, to RAC secretariat (rac(at)echa.europa.eu) or SEAC secretariat (seac(at)echa.europa.eu), in taking part in the discussions concerning the PFAS restriction proposal by 9 May 2024.

Biocidal Products Committee meets in May

The agenda of the upcoming meeting of our Biocidal Products Committee is now online. The committee will meet from 27 to 31 May 2024.

Dynamic Purchasing System for the provision of IT services

We are looking for IT service providers to join our Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) for IT services.

The service providers will help us in various areas, such as in planning, consultation, management, development, and maintenance of diverse digital services and information systems. This ranges from application and software development and maintenance, to quality assurance, testing, platform, technology and infrastructure management, cybersecurity, and beyond.

The contracts will be awarded through mini-competitions amongst the companies approved to the DPS list.

Meet us at SETAC Europe Annual meeting

We welcome you to meet our experts at our booth 212 if you are joining the SETAC Europe Annual meeting in Sevilla on 5-9 May 2024.

Our experts are also presenting posters, giving presentations and co-chairing sessions on several scientific topics, including bee protection, biocides, new approach methodologies and alternatives to animal testing, polymers, persistent chemicals, nanomaterials, advancement and gaps in regulatory science.

New opportunities with the Joint Research Centre

The Joint Research Centre (JRC) has launched a call for project proposals to access the JRC Nanobiotechnology Laboratory for researchers and scientists from EU Member States, and a call for Training and Capacity Building.

The deadline for both calls is 21 May 2024.
